Broward County has it all: parks, national refuges, museums, amusement parks, gardens, you name it. It is the home of Fort Lauderdale and is located next to Miami. Whether you plan to stay here or go to Florida for a job, there are a few things you should try.
Snorkeling and sub diving
While in Broward County, Fort Lauderdale is an excellent place to go scuba diving or snorkelling. The waters are warm all year, so you can go as deep as you want without worrying about the cold. In fact, depending on whether it’s winter or summer, temperatures range from 72 to 80 degrees. The county has also constructed over 76 artificial reefs on the ocean floor, which provide a fantastic snorkelling experience. It’s one of the few places in the United States where you can dive or snorkel on a living coral reef.
Everglades
This refuge, established in 1951, protects the last remnants of the once-vast northern Everglades. It’s home to endangered species like the wood stork and the Everglades snail kite, as well as native wildlife and fish populations. This Everglades has more alligators, as well as dozens of native plant species and insect life, than the southern Everglades. Raccoons, deer, otters, and bobcats are among the other animals you might see here.
Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge
This is the place to go if you want to be entertained while touring Broward County. It is one of the world’s top ten most visited theatres. They put on over 700 performances each year for over 700,000 people. Operas, musicals, concerts, ballets, plays, and lectures are just a few examples. They host educational events and workshops. The arts-in-education programme, which is one of the largest in the US and serves over 150,000 students annually, is also worth mentioning.
Broward Center of the Performing Art
When compared to the largest parks in the lower 48 states, Everglades ranks third. It spans 2400 square miles. Hiking, biking, kayaking, fresh & saltwater fishing, camping, and many other outdoor activities are available to you whether you are an individual, a family, or a group. You can also go for a walk along a boardwalk trail, ride a tram through Shark Valley, or take a boat tour to see the Florida Bay. You may also see deer, wading birds, and, if you’re lucky, alligators.
Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale
This museum, located in the heart of downtown Fort Lauderdale, takes pride in providing exceptional access to unrivalled visual artistic expression. They have a diverse artistic collection that has been gathered from all over the world and over time. This is the place to go if you are an art lover, a researcher, or simply want to learn more about the past while in Broward County.
